Spring is finally here. We’re awfully sure your to-do list already feels overly long, but we have a couple things that will save you some problems and keep you cozy in the months to come. The weather is going to start heating up in South Beloit and Belvidere and the last thing you want is to discover is that you’re facing an AC repair. Going through this short checklist now may save you from sweating this summer.
- Inspect Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of pointers because it's so important and so often left unaddressed. If your air filter is filthy, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more work on the system which reduces the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are another piece of the puzzle that is often overlooked as well. While you're spring cleaning, remove the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers removed, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and swap them after they've dried. - Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units clear of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can inhibit your system and cause it to decrease its efficiency. - Arrange Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we enter the picture to help you tackle that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up prolongs the life of your system and keeps it running at optimal efficiency. Spring is the best time to set up your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be taken care of before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a small investment into the lifespan of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with all of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to be sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long.
